Prof. David Boas, Neurophotonics Center, Boston University: ”Laser Speckle Fluctuations to Probe Dynamics on the Macroscopic to Microscopic Scales”boas_david_2014
Bio: David Boas is the director of the BU Neurophotonics Center, and is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He received his BS in Physics at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and PhD in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the founding President of the Society for Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy and founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal Neurophotonics published by SPIE. Dr. Boas was awarded the Britton Chance Award in Biomedical Optics in 2016 for his development of several novel, high-impact biomedical optical technologies in the neurosciences, as well as following through with impactful application studies, and fostering the widespread adoption of these technologies.

 

 

 

Ronald Sroka, Laser-Forschungslabor, LIFE-Centre, Department of Urology, Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich:”Developments of 2µm-Laser Applications for clinical use”
Bio: Ronald Sroka is the head of the Laser-Forschungslabor at LIFE-Centre of University Hospital Munich. He received PhD degree at the Medical Faculty of the University Munich in 1992 and habilitation in 2014. Since 1986, he was mostly engaged in the research and development of fluorescence diagnosis, Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and laser surgery in nearly all medical disciplines focusing on the translational technical implementation of several laser applications into the clinics. He is the General Secretary of the German Society of Lasermedicine (DGLM e.V.) and executive member of the ELA. Since 2015 he is adjunct professor and advisory board member of the Institute of Photomedicine Tongji-University Shanghai.
