Raine Hermans, Head of Strategic Programs, Tekes
Bio: Dr. Raine Hermans is the Director for strategic lead markets at Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation since January 2016. His unit assists and supports Tekes advisors and customers to realize renewing their business by cocreating new business ecosystems, which consist of disruptions in the future markets, smart procurement, access to emerging markets, and impact on next EU framework program. Before the current position, Raine was the Head Strategic Programs 2012-2015, and  Director of the Unit for Strategic Intelligence at Tekes 2010-2011. The unit was in charge of knowledge management, including impact analysis, funding of innovation policy research, and foresight services. Raine started as the Director of regional networks at Tekes in September 2007. One of his most important challenges was to coordinate synchronizing the distinctive regional strategies together and with the national one of Tekes’. Prior to joining Tekes, he acted as a visiting professor (managerial economics of biotechnology) at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois USA, since the beginning of 2006. Dr. Hermans has also led a group of multidisciplinary corporate and industry analysts for several years with Etlatieto Ltd and ETLA, the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy. He has hold positions of chairman and member of the board in fields of education and health industry, and the CEO of Regiofacta Ltd providing consultant services on geographic information systems. He is (part-time) the adjunct professor in Aalto University School of Economics, on the discipline of innovation management and valuation of intangible assets.

Saila Seppo, Programme Manager, Academy of Finland
Bio: Saila Seppo garnered MSc and Licentiate in Technology degrees in the Aalto University, and she obtained her PhD in chemistry (theoretical and experimental studies of TiO2) from the University of Eastern Finland in 2003 during her career in Kemira Company. She joined Kemira’s plant in Pori in 1987, first as a researcher, then tackling a number of different roles, including budgeting and planning, recruitment, leadership, management, investment and profitability calculations, research, process engineering, pilot tests, marketing, customer visits, susceptibility and feasibility calculations and business planning. In 1989, she patented nano-TiO2 as an UV-protective agent, following which there were a new plant and a global launch (it still has a growing market today). Her last post in Kemira was head of strategic research. In 2005, she was appointed to be a programme manager in the Academy of Finland, which she has combined with her own micro-cellulose products and books by her company Greenbutton Oy since 2008. She has also coordinated research programmes on energy, information technology, mechanical, civil and automation engineering, production and products, photonics, modern imaging techniques and programmable materials.

Prof. Harri Kopola at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.
Bio: Dr. Harri Kopola is Professor in Knowlegde Intensive Products and Services Business Area at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. Since 1st September 2016 he is concentrating his efforts in printed intelligence industrialization and commercialization, digital naked world extension to European scale and Hilla – Hightech ICT leverage initiative.  He received Diploma in Engineering, Licentiate of Technology, and Doctor of Technology  degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oulu.  In 1989 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa and NRC, Canada.  From 1990 to 1995 he was servicing the University of Oulu as a chief assistant, associate professor, and  professor in electronics.  He took 1995 the position as the research professor in optoelectronics at VTT, followed by positions of  responsible head of optoelectronics research,  research director at VTT Electronics, research director in microtechnologies and electronics research, and VP Research in KIPS beeing  responsible of research strategy and research portfolio of technology areas covering digital systems and services, communication systems, microsystems, intelligent and optical sensor systems, metrology, printed and hybrid functionalities, and health.  As special initiative he was leading a new VTT spearhead program ‘Center for Printed Intelligence’ from August 2006 to December 2009. He had his expat period  as a visiting professor 4 months at the University of Tokyo, Institute of Industrial Science from September to December 2012, and 8 months  at the University of California Berkeley from January to August 2013.  

Juho Risku, Co-founder, Partner, Butterfly Ventures
Serial entrepreneur, inside knowledge of digital businesses, web, mobile, cloud services, social media, marketing, crowd sourcing, with his deep roots in startup community and innovation systems in Oulu. 20 years of experience in founding companies and growing businesses, last four years in venture capital, one of the founders of Butterfly Ventures. Participated nearly 100 investment rounds, both as an investor as well as an entrepreneur. Having deep understanding of founder–venture financier co-operation from practical as well as academic perspectives. Most recently, Board Member of Naturvention, Founder and CEO of Tribevine Inc., Founder, CEO and CTO of Helmi Technologies Inc., Founder, CEO and Chairman at Visualway Design Ltd. Was the Board member of Oulu Innovation for four years, as well as, Steering committee member of Global Clusters program, and the Creative Business Management program/University of Oulu, Board member of Media Forum Oulu, and the Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs of Oulu network. Risku is 40 years of age, and he holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Oulu.

Katriina Otsamo, SVP Finance & Administration, Tactotek Oy.
Bio: Katriina Otsamo manages TactoTek’s financial operations, human resources, contracts, and oversees corporate compliance. Katriina brings more than 15 years of relevant experience to her role including start-up finance, human resources management and business development. She is an inventor and co-founder of Checkmylevel, a consumer electronics solution for monitoring athlete neuromuscular recovery. Katriina holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance. 

Pertti Ikäläinen, Business Development Manager, Huawei technologies Oy (Finland) Co. Ltd
Bio: Pertti Ikäläinen is Business Development Manager in Huawei 2012 Labs, Central Hardware Engineering Institute, within Huawei Technologies Finland. He has long experience in ICT industry and prior to joining Huawei, he was an independent consultant and he has held various positions in technology strategy, technology management and R&D in Nokia, Texas Instruments and VTT Technical Research Center of Finland. Pertti Ikäläinen has Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Mr. Arto Pussinen, Head of Industry ICT and Digitalization, Invest In Finland/Finpro OY.
Bio: Arto Pussinen (M.Sc. eMBA) heads the ICT and digitalization sector in Invest In Finland, Finpro Oy.  Arto has long experience in ICT industry, including various roles in Nokia. During last years, he has worked with foreign direct investments leading the team speeding up the recovery form the rapid structural change in ICT industry.

Mr. Reijo Munther, Director, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
Bio: Formerly he acted as the Counselor for Science, Technology and Innovation with the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo and Director for Tekes and FinNode offices in Tokyo. He has been working nearly two decades for Tekes (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation) in positions like Director for Materials Technology and Secretary General for Innovative Cities. He has also served as the Finnish delegate to various science boards by the EU. Prior toTekes he was a visiting researcher in the University of California in Berkeley. Mr.Munther has a background in Nuclear Engineering by education and he is a member of the Technology Academy of Finland (TAF).
