[:en]The Department of Chemistry of the University of Helsinki invites applications for a four-year fixed term

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER


Position starting from November 15th 2016 at the Kumpula Campus of the University of Helsinki. The starting date is negotiable. The research will be directed by Professor Lauri Halonen. The objective is to break new grounds by approaches which combine innovative computational and experimental methods.

The successful candidate is expected to carry out experimental and/or computational/theoretical work on one of the following two topics: Laser spectroscopy method development with mid-infrared optical frequency combs for ice- and quartz-surfaces; Computational atmospheric chemistry, especially processes at different forms of water including water complexes, ice particles and the quasi-liquid layer of ice.

The molecular spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry group lead by Prof. Halonen consists of about 15 scientists, and has excellent computational and experimental facilities including commercial and home-built optical frequency combs and a new proton transfer mass-spectrometer.

The salary of successful candidate will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance.
