Euro-BioImaging (EuBI) is a European Research Infrastructure for Imaging Technologies in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Helsinki BioImaging is a partner in The Finnish Advanced Light Microscopy Node of EuBI, and joins the activities of three University of Helsinki imaging core facilities: Biomedicum Imaging Unit, Light Microscopy (www.biu.helsinki.fi), Light Microscopy Unit, Institute of Biotechnology (www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/lmu) and Electron Microscopy Unit, Institute of Biotechnology (www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/em).
Helsinki BioImaging is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral researcher for the period of 1.4.2017 – 31.12.2020
The post involves participation in the EuBI projects hosted by Helsinki BioImaging including user training, documentation and reporting of imaging activities, networking between imaging facilities, and participation in teaching and other duties of the units as needed. The position is offered with a four-month trial period.
A successful candidate should be highly motivated, have excellent organizational skills and previous experience in biological or medical imaging technologies. Experience in confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, image processing and analysis are desired. The candidate is expected to have a doctoral degree in a suitable discipline. We expect the candidate to have skills in laboratory techniques complementing the imaging approaches. We also require experience in student supervision and teaching, a cooperative attitude, and enthusiasm for learning new skills. The candidate should be fluent in English and have good communication and scientific writing skills.
The salary is based on level 5 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.
