
Photonics Finland is proud to announce the appointment of seven new Honorary Members. This honorary status is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the development of photonics in Finland as well as to the growth and activities of Photonics Finland as a national organization.
The honorary members were officially appointed at the Photonics Finland Spring Meeting held on June 4, 2025, in Oulu.
The newly appointed Honorary Members are:
- Jouko Korppi-Tommola
- Ari Friberg
- Risto Myllylä
- Kim Grundström
- Jyrki Saarinen
- Veli-Pekka Leppänen
- Timo Vuorenpää
These distinguished individuals represent both academic excellence and industrial leadership, and all have roots in the Finnish Optical Society, the predecessor of Photonics Finland. Their dedication, expertise, and long-term impact have been instrumental in shaping the Finnish photonics community.
Recognizing them as Honorary Members is a way to acknowledge the key roles they have played in building the foundation on which Finnish photonics now stands — both scientifically and industrially.
