Role Overview: Photonics Finland is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate our European projects and support our international collaborations. In this role, you will work closely with European partners and contribute to ensuring that Photonics Finland and its members gain maximum benefit from EU initiatives. You will join a small and agile team of five people, where each member has a high level of responsibility and a direct impact on our activities and international collaboration. Your work will focus on coordinating ongoing EU projects, supporting communication and reporting, and contributing to the preparation of new project proposals in collaboration with European partners. You will also participate in key Photonics Finland activities, such as the Optics & Photonics Days event. You will be supported in the role to ensure a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Coordinate the planning, implementation, and follow-up of European projects related to photonics (e.g. Horizon Europe), working closely with international partners and Photonics Finland member organizations. Act as a key contact point between Photonics Finland, project partners, and European institutions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders. - Funding and Reporting: Support project reporting and financial follow-up in line with EU requirements, in collaboration with project partners and coordinators. Contribute to the preparation of reports, documentation, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with funding rules.
- New project Development: Contribute to the preparation of new EU project proposals together with European partners and support the identification of relevant funding opportunities and partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Physics, Business Administration, or a related field. A background in photonics or optics is considered an advantage.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in project management, preferably in European-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, EUREKA, etc.).
- Skills: Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine interest in collaboration and building networks. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and keep projects progressing in a structured and proactive manner. Familiarity with project management tools and practices is beneficial.
- Language: Fluency in English is required; Finnish is an advantage.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certifications are advantageous.
- Requires travel to project meetings across Europe.
